What I Designed

A repeatable experience format that enables creatives to share work, give feedback, and return as active contributors—designed so others can independently host high-quality sessions.

Context

Creative communities often struggle to sustain meaningful engagement. Feedback is inconsistent, participation drops off, and experiences depend heavily on who is in the room. I set out to design a format that could consistently facilitate thoughtful exchange—without relying on a single organizer.

Approach

Defining what “great” looks like

I identified key qualities of meaningful creative exchange:

  • Psychological safety

  • Balanced participation

  • Actionable feedback

  • A sense of contribution and return

Translating into a structured system

I designed a repeatable session format that includes:

  • Guided prompts to frame sharing

  • Structured feedback rounds

  • Facilitation cues to manage group dynamics

  • A clear beginning–middle–end progression

Iterating through real sessions

Over multiple sessions, I refined the format based on:

  • Participant behavior

  • Feedback quality

  • Engagement levels

This led to adjustments in pacing, prompts, and group structure.

Designing for others to lead

To enable scale, I developed a Host Playbook that allows others to run sessions independently:

  • Session flow and timing

  • Facilitation principles

  • Troubleshooting guidance

  • Templates and prompts

Outcome

  • 120+ creatives participated across 17 sessions

  • Repeat attendance and returning contributors

  • Consistent experience quality across different groups

  • Format enabled others to host sessions independently, extending the experience beyond my direct involvement.

Experience Framework

  • Set intention

  • Structure interaction

  • Facilitate exchange

  • Reflect and close

  • Enable continuation
